In Motion

Aw, my last post for the challenge! How sad. Ok not really, but anyway!

This may have been in slow motion, but it is in motion.
Amy, Greg, and I went to a lame festival balloon festival yesterday. This one was taking off as we walked down to the "fun." Sadly, it was almost the best part of the day. I had a great time, but that was because of who I was with. Those two make going to pay bills fun.

Purchased

Hey... were you aware that I really like the Wizard of Oz? Were you also aware that McDonald's recently had Oz toys in their happy meals? I discovered this completely by accident, but then had to have these.
For the record, you can buy happy meal toys without the happy meal for $1.50. :-)

They had these lovely ladies, Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion, but all I wanted were the witches. I posted this picture to Instagram, tagging Amy and saying which witch is which? We alternate... although I think both of us are stuck on Elphaba at the moment.

Daily Routine

Most people who know me, know that I am very conscious about my teeth. The one part of my day that happens every single day, even if I'm too sick to take a shower, is brushing my teeth. It just makes me feel more human.
This is by far my favorite toothbrush. It was given to my by a woman who works for Philips. Good thing, because as much as I love it, it also retails for $149. I can't even afford the replacement heads. It was lovely while they lasted though. Except that it tickled like crazy for the first week. Worth it though.

After dark

This was taken way back in 2009 at a Relay for Life event near the Sunsphere in World's Fair Park. I took a picture of the moon's progress across the sky as I stayed up all night for the even. I have some pretty cool pics, but this is by far my favorite.

Something old

Something old? This may be the oldest thing I have a picture of...
Lady Liberty herself. Not only is she old, but this picture is old, too! I snapped this when Amy and I were in NYC way back in 2010.

Sunflare

Ok, apparently I have something against a good old fashioned sunflare. Maybe it has to do with the screaming cats and lens flares I had to endure a few years ago... I didn't share that story? Repressed memories from a film festival. I might feel up to discussing it after a few drinks... maybe. Anyway, this is one of 2 pictures I could find with a sunflare.
Amy and I had taken her stepson (who I'm pretty sure wasn't her stepson at the time) and my little brother to the corn maze and then went for a hayride. I snapped this while we were rolling along.

A smile

Well, we didn't say it had to be my smile, did we?
G sent me this one the other day to tell me he got a haircut. I'm not sure why, but he always sends me a pic after he cuts his hair. The only exception is if I'm going to see him within the next 2 hours. Then he still texts me. I don't know if he's being silly or trying to warn me or what. I think it's sweet. Plus, bonus chances to see his mug. I'll take it.

PS, did you notice he shaved??? He did that over Labor Day weekend and I am just now getting used to it. I like it though. Less prickly. :-)

Sunset

This is one of my favorite pictures that I've taken recently, and it just so happens to work for today.
Greg and I were driving to dinner when I looked up and saw this. I'm always captivated when the light streams clouds like that. I was rather impressed that I got the shot. In another few seconds, we rounded a corner and it never looked quite a breathtaking.

Trees

I took this one outside of Greg's office when I went to go meet him for dinner a few weeks ago.
When I took this picture, I was actually just going for the color of the sky, but I like the way they tree line came out, too. A little spooky, but still lovely.

Pretty pattern

I think I went to boarding school in a previous life because...
I have always been in love with argyle. It just makes me happy! I saw these Thanksgiving napkins at Target the other day and fell in love again. I got them to use for a dinner party Amy and I are hosting in a few weeks. I'll force my love of argyle on my friends, too!

What I read

We are starting a new alignment series a church soon. This is a time when what pastor talks about on Sunday directly relates to what we are studying in Small Group. This time, the church wrote the whole curriculum and created a book for it.
As a group leader, I got the book early so I can try to prepare. I really think this is going to be a great study. I'm looking forward to it.

Where I slept

Throw back! You are not getting a picture of my bed right now, mostly because I don't feel like making it. So here is the tiniest bedroom I have ever slept in (including the time I slept in a closet).
This was the room, and the bed, Amy and I shared in NYC back in 2010. I have another picture of her in the middle of the room, nearly touching both walls. Crazy!

In my bag

I have a problem, guys. I am addicted to writing supplies, especially pens....
This little green bag goes in my purse, so it's a bag within a bag. And the sad thing is, there are still pens floating around lose in my purse and my back pack. I told you... I have a problem!

On the shelf

I can't be alone in this... If I see something interesting at the store, I will take a pic and text it to someone. Anybody else? No? Ok, well you're missing out. It saves you from forgetting to tell them about it all together. Anyway! I was at Target when I saw these adorable little cups.
I have no need or use for them, but I felt like Amy had to know they existed. And now you do, too! Look, I even included the price. You're welcome.

What I ate

I woke up the other morning craving pumpkin pancakes. Actually, I went to bed thinking about them. No surprise that I wanted them when I woke up. And since I woke up crazy early, I had plenty of time to make some for breakfast!
Mmmm, butter...
Not the prettiest, but yummy nonetheless!

My shoes

I love shoes. I really do. I'm not a total fashionista, or even a baby fashionista, so I'm not in love with the newest styles or the crazy heels (although I do have a pair of boots that nearly put me on par with Greg's 6'5" frame). My downfall tend to be sneakers. And I am totally in love with the trend of brightly colored kicks everywhere (yes, Amy, I just said kicks). Right now, I am in love with these...
Yes, you've seen this pic before, but we're looking at my shoes now. They are BRIGHT pink with neon yellow laces. They enter the room before 5 minutes before I do. I think I love the colorful shoe trend mostly because my work uniform is all black and I like to add a bit of color where I can.

Flowers

Now this pic is older, but it's one of my favorite pictures of flowers I have.
Greg have me these for my birthday way back when I was working at the preschool. He actually gave me 2 bunches (he brought them to me at work), and I split them in 2 vases. I wasn't thinking about it, but after I posted this picture on Facebook, it was pointed out to me that it kind of looks like a muppet. So every time I see this picture, I half expect them to start talking. Well.. maybe if I lived in the world of Jim Henson or Harry Potter.

From a distance

Today's challenge makes me think of the Bette Midler song, which them makes me think of the song from Hercules... I'm special. Moving on...
yes, I'm the dot
This picture was taken a few years ago when I went hiking with a co-worker. What's crazy is that she zoomed in to take this shot. She was at least 40 feet away from me. And no, I was not scaling a rock face. There was a (narrow) path that I used to get up there.

Close-up

Well, I don't think it gets closer than this!
I see you!
Forgive the no make-up shot. It's allergy season. Hence the bloodshot-ness, too... Oh well. You get what you get. I took this because I was arguing with someone about the color of my eyes. At this exact moment, my eyes were mostly green. They alternate between brown and green. Most of the time they are half and half (like me ... get it? 'Cuz I'm biracial... and hilarious...), with the middle being brown and the outside being green (not like me). My license says their hazel. Eh, they're my eyeballs, and they serve me well enough with the whole seeing thing. I'll keep 'em.

Something fun

The there are so many thing that I think are fun. I love cooking, crocheting, singing, watching movies... but probably one of my most favorite things ever is getting sucked into a good book. Even better if it's series.
[source]
Oh... and I have a think for YA lit. I'm a kid at heart. Anyway! This is the first book in a series that is a sequel to another series I enjoyed. I finished this book a few days ago and I'm already jonesing for the second. I borrowed the ebook from my library, but they don't have the second book. Well they have the audiobook, but not a readable one. I have no clue why. Regardless, this means I'm either going to have to buy the ebook or... well... I'm just going to buy the ebook. And probably the whole series. :-)
