What a Month!

Oof! February was one roller coaster of a month! I went from the highs of going on vacation to the lows of... well, a lot of stuff, and a lot of craziness in between! And today was a day to beat them all. I can't even pinpoint what exactly went wrong today. It was a lot of little things that just had me feeling in a low mood, but I had plans for tonight that I was really excited about until the day started pecking at that, too.

I was supposed to be going to a worship CD recording at one of our church campuses. Originally it was going to be an outing for our small group. One by one people started backing out until it was just going to be me and Amy. Not that I have a problem with that. Amy and I have had an adventure or two on our own and it's high time we through some Jesus adventures in there, too. Until she got a last minute notice that she needed to drive her stepson halfway across the state this evening. If you're unaware, Tennessee is kind of a long state. Needless to say, she was out. At that point I was almost ready to throw in the towel and decide not to go, but I had invited a girl who was interested in joining our small group and she seemed really excited about going. Plus I had already asked Greg about going and he has really been wanting to go see more live music. Okay, okay, we're going!

Oh em gee oh es aytch (OMGOSH), I am so glad I didn't talk myself out of going! I had a fabulous time singing my heart out and worshiping with a few hundred other believers. It. Was. Awesome. I sang, I cried, I danced, I prayed... I feel refreshed! The feeling of being with so many other believers singing and praising together was just amazing. I can't wait til the CD is ready for purchase. I couldn't even tell you my favorite song we sang because I loved them all. Although, they did a mix of one with Can't Hold Us by Macklemore and I was quite excited. And the girl interested in joining our small group got to see what is probably the closest rendition of the "real" me that anyone has seen in a long time. God bless her if she decides to come to group!

Anyway, since I didn't even try to record any of tonight's concert, I will leave you with a song that all ways makes me happy. They play this on Air1 on Monday afternoons, saying that it's impossible to be mad and listen to this song. Well, I don't know if it's impossible, but it does always make me dance... and I don't typically like this type of music! Have a great day!

Currently

I'm still alive! I know, I know, it's be ages since I posted a blog. I feel like that's what I get for bragging about my awesome amount of focus. About the time I clicked publish, all of my focus went out the window!

May has been a BUSY month so far. Between my birthday(s) and subbing for my boss, I’m just now getting to a point where I feel like I can relax. I promise I will post about all of that (as well as the crochet patterns/reviews I owe you), but there is a small hiccup with getting my pictures out of my phone. More on that later.

But for now, I decided I wanted follow the trend with the “Currently” survey. Does this remind anyone else of the surveys on MySpace? I loved those, too.

Current Book(s):
Ha! The books I’ve read in the past few weeks are a little eclectic, but I liked them.
City of Bones by Casandra Clare

I’ve seen this book on the shelves and been interested, but when I saw a trailer for the soon-to-be movie I decided to go ahead and read it. I really liked it! I plan on getting the second one on my next payday.

Cure for the Common Life by Max Lucado

My small group was using this for our most recent study. I’m not going to say I’ve learned a lot, but it’s changed my perspective on a few things. Read it!

And for real, I’m currently reading Size12 and Ready to Rock by Meg Cabot.
I’ve read the other 3 in the series, and I found this was available from the library as an e-book. I put it on hold, then forgot to download it, so I had to be put back on the list! I like it so far.

Current Music:
Most people know I only listen to Air 1 in my car. It was a personal decision, but that doesn’t mean it’s all listen to. Some of my favorite songs include:

Gold by Britt Nicole

You’ll Never Be Alone by Capital Kings

Can’t Hold Us by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

Just Give Me a Reason by P!nk and Nate Reuss

Current Guilty Pleasure:
Chocolate Dipped cones from McDonald’s.

Current Nail Color:
I just took it off, but I was wearing OPI VIII

Current Drink:
Coffee

Current Food:
Peanut Butter and Honey Sandwiches. I had one for breakfast and it’s like the 12th I’ve had this week. I’m addicted.

Current Favorite Show:
This is going to sound lame, but Good Morning America.

It’s the only show I get to watch on a regular basis, and I do love it.

Current Wish List:
Clothes. I realized I don’t have many spring/summer clothes.

Current needs:
New work capris. All of my old ones are too big.

Current Indulgence:
Ice cream

Current Blessing:
I’m so blessed I can’t even believe it some days. I know that may sound hokey, but it doesn’t make it less true. I feel the most blessed with my friends and family.

Current Outfit:
My blue sundress. My friend is graduating from Law School this morning, and I’m typing this while waiting for Greg to pick me up.

Current Excitement:
The chance to finally catch up on my personal life!

Pity Party

This weekend was a little rough. I didn't really sleep well through most of last week, so by the time Saturday rolled around I felt worn out. Especially since I had to work at 6am Saturday morning. Although, I was kind of glad I had to got up that early. It snowed Friday night/Saturday morning, and when I left for work there was this cool snow and mist thing going on. I tried to take a picture of it, but seeing as it was pre-dawn I didn't get what I wanted. It did turn out pretty cool though.
The circle is from Instagram, but that's pretty much how it looked on my camera. I had never seen mist and snow before. Anyway, the snow didn't last long. Most of it was gone by the time the sun came up. We kept having little snow showers off and on all day, but it never stuck.

Greg and I went to dinner and to see Jack the Giant Slayer that night. I was an emotional wreck (I think because of the lack of sleep) and somehow started feeling like Greg was only taking me out to dinner so I would shut up about my promotion. That in itself is a dumb thought because we go out to dinner and a movie almost every single weekend, some times more than once in a weekend.

Sunday was a hard day. I don't really know why exactly, but I felt like everyone was mad at me and thought I was a hateful hag. I had decided I was going to spend my entire day in bed watching Netflix and Hulu. I even passed on going to see Hannah and Olivia at the Women's Today Expo with Amy! I was in total pity party mode. Luckily, Amy is my best friend and got me this:
Jen! Sorry we missed you! xo Olivia Ward
Hi Jen! Hannah Curlee
I spent most of the day crying and hashing things out with Greg (not in a bad way). I was feeling better that evening. Sometimes I think I just need to cry it out.

I get in these moods where I'm convinced that no one likes me or wants to be around me. I think I'm useless, unwanted, and unneeded. Have I ever mentioned I have deep seeded abandonment issues? Every once in a while they come rear their ugly head. Usually when things aren't going right (broken TV and phone) or life is not living up to my expectations (my promotion not being computer official at work). I feel like that's how the devil tries to get at me. He knows I'm talented, smart, and fun to be around, but if he can make me think I'm not then he has me.

Have I ever mentioned that I think Satan is a loser? Actually, if you've read the book, you know he is. ;-) Anyway, when he starts trying to get under my skin, I start singing. This is one of my favorites at the moment...

I heard this song at Winter Jam and fell in love with it. I need to memorize it so I can sing it all the time. It's hard to throw a pity party when you're rocking out!
